A parking sensor is a system of detectors that can determine the distance of objects to the vehicle. They are normally located by the front and rear bumper of the car. They send out acoustic pulses that are measured by a control unit. It measures the bounce back rate to determine the distance. It may alert you to the closeness of an object by sending a warning sound or a LED warning on the car’s information center screen. These sensors can help drivers park or keep them from hitting objects that are out of their line of sight.
