RNS510 for MY09)- customers are now able to connect digital play back devices to their radios through a MEDIA-IN Box. For Radios not equiped with MDI box from Factory only! With the arrival of Volkswagens next generation of radios (i.e. The MEDIA-IN Box is standard with the RNS510 Navigation Radio (production began for MY2009)- but must be added to the RNS310 and P8 radios (production begins in MY2010**). A MEDIA-IN retrofit kit 5N0 057 342 for RNS310 and P8 radios includes the MEDIA-IN Box and the necessary harnesses for installation (installation time is estimated to be about 1.5 hours). (Please note that the adapter cables for the iPod- USB- Mini-USB and 3.5 mm aux jack are not included and sold separately.)External audio sources such as MP3 Players- iPod and USB-Sticks can be connected to these radio systems via a variety of multimedia plugs. Audio output takes place via the car loudspeaker. Some devices give music information on the vehicles radio display- and allow control through the vehicles radio (Only in conjunction with RNS310 and RNS 510). ***NOTE: These new generations of attachment devices are not compatible with older radios such as Premium 5.5 and 7. They should only be used on applications as intended by the factory. Modifying- altering- and abusing the connection device can negatively impact your digital play back device and the performance of your Volkswagen radio and ancillary devices. The USB cable (000 051 446B)- can not be used to connect an iPod.
